Cable Assembler Apprenticeship: FILLED

Advanced Manufacturing apprentice

Employer: Cobham Aerospace – Exeter

Length of Apprenticeship: one year and eight months, including 228 hours of classroom instruction at Great Bay Community College.

Starting wage:  $13.00/hr, with progressively increasing wages as you gain skills. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, the individual will make $16.00/hr.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Cable Assembler performs a wide variety of assembly operations to create precision electro-mechanical of electronic assemblies or sub-assemblies.  The production operator determines and/or follows method and sequence of operations in performing such task as prepping/cleaning parts, threading, trimming, stripping of multi-layered cables, tap and thread center conductors, Misc. hand soldering, mixing and applying of epoxies, component installation, and the assembly of RF Cable Harnesses. Use of precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance with blueprint specifications and tolerances: disassembles precision assemblies and corrects malfunctions. Operates automatic, semi-automatic, custom-made equipment and performs set-ups and makes adjustments to equipment as needed.
